Media & Culture

Radio, Television, Events & Christchurch Culture

Media and nightlife were not side notes. They developed David's understanding of audiences, attention, promotion and the commercial value of culture.

PulzarFM 105.7

At Christchurch dance-music station PulzarFM 105.7, David worked as Sales Manager while also presenting late-night rave radio. The role connected advertising, audience development, nightlife and commercial relationships.

Funk & Fish & Chips

Funk & Fish & Chips was not the foundation of David's hospitality experience. It was a small-business turnaround story.

A struggling owner asked for help. David rapidly repositioned the quiet takeaway into a colourful late-night destination built around good fast food, 1980s arcade games, street art, rave music and a DJ setup, aimed directly at Christchurch's nightlife market.

The earthquake ended the business, but the experience remained an early demonstration of David's instinct for local positioning and market identity.

ALT TV and Surreal Entertainment

David later worked as a Producer at ALT TV in Auckland and founded Surreal Entertainment, adding television production, events, audience development and live promotion to his commercial background.
