Funk & Fish & Chips
A struggling takeaway became a branding and repositioning exercise built around food, street art, arcade games, DJs and late-night culture.

I co-owned the business and helped turn it into something much more distinctive than a standard fish-and-chip shop. The idea was to create a place people wanted to visit, not simply a counter where they collected food.
Rave music, a DJ setup, arcade machines and visual identity all became part of the proposition. The Christchurch earthquake ultimately ended the business, but the chapter reinforced how much positioning and atmosphere can change the economics of an otherwise ordinary offer.
There is much more detail to document here, including the people involved, the turnaround itself and how the business connected with the wider Christchurch music scene.
