Christchurch directory marketing

This was the period where selling individual products increasingly turned into designing acquisition operations around local businesses, recurring relationships and directory-based offers.

References & historical context

External references are provided for chronology and context. They do not imply endorsement, employment verification or a commercial relationship beyond what the chapter itself describes.

The work involved prospecting, scripts, pricing, close rates, invoicing and repeat business. It also connected directly to the earlier directory idea associated with my mother, Pauline Ruck, and later to the model that became 0199.

The lineage

Directory sales became infrastructure.

What began as a way to connect local businesses with customers eventually expanded into call-centre operations, business data, websites, email, hosting and digital services.

This page will hold the fuller Christchurch directory story as I add the individual companies, offers and turning points.
